Should You Run Immediately After Eating.
Running is a physically demanding activity which is all about speed,
power and intensity which requires strength. Proper diet is a key which all
runners follow to remain physically fit during the workouts or race. Every
runner is different, has to work
out what works best for him, and has different goals. Going for a run empty stomach without intaking anything prior can pause
you during the workout or during run
making you tired, dizziness or headache which will not only negatively affect you,
but also make the experience less enjoyable. Therefore runners take plenty and
proper diet to avoid being disturbed. But the question is should one run immediately
after eating.
What to eat, how much to eat depends upon several factors as every
runners body is different. The amount of time you should wait before commencing
your run depends on what type of food and how much you have eaten and at what
time. For example if you have consumed a heavy meal rich of fat and fibers just
before the run, then it will take long time to digest. Now if you start running
immediately after eating you may start feeling discomfort causing nausea,
bloating of stomach, cramps or stomach upset.
So what is a right time to intake the food? The general rule is if you
have taken large meal you should wait for 3-4 hours, 2-3 hours after a small
meal, and at least 40 minutes after a snack. What food is to be taken may
depend upon the timing of run or workout and can be decided with consultation
of professionals. This will help the
stomach to digest the food and will provide energy to the body helping you to
take your run and enjoy the process of running.
Timing matters a lot……………
